The Red Room

The Red Room is a Theatre and Film Company that seeks to free the imagination and challenge the status quo. We aim to create theatre, film, debates, forums, and web-based events that challenge social injustice and promote human rights. We aim to create work that is original, daring, provocative and inspiring for audiences who question the changing world. The Red Room specialises in new writing and site specific work that is supported by documentary. Led by dynamic artistic director Topher Campbell, The Red Room in association with The Junction, Cambridge has this year commissioned two stage plays alongside its commission of The Jellyfish Theatre. The two world premieres have been written by Simon Wu and Kay Adshead and will focus on Human Rights and responsibilities and climate change. Through our work we hope to give voice to those under represented in society in a form that is accessible in style and challenging in content. The Red Room believes that theatre should be a genuinely public art form.

The Architecture Foundation

Founded in 1991 as the UK’s first independent architecture centre, The Architecture Foundation is a non-profit agency for contemporary architecture, urbanism and culture. We cultivate new talent and new ideas. Through our diverse programmes we facilitate international and interdisciplinary exchange, stimulate critical engagement amongst professionals, policy makers and a broad public, and shape the quality of the built environment. We are independent, agile, inclusive and influential. Central to our activities is the belief that architecture enriches lives.

Köbberling & Kaltwasser

The public space is under siege – the compulsion to consume, increased monitoring, and continuously expanding traffic threaten to fundamentally change the appearance of our cities. Since 1998, the two artists Folke Köbberling and Martin Kaltwasser have been implementing their concept of an artistic and architectural aesthetic of resistance to this appropriation. Their work presents alternatives to this consumer ideology – through structural interventions, artistic statements, actions, and theories. The artists use streets, squares, bridges, parks and interior spaces as their areas of operation. The materials applied by them always consist of “urban resources” – such as litter, trash, and donations. As a result, each work is based on communicative and social moments. Their strategies encourage emulation, distribution, and multiplication, as they can be implemented with very simple materials. Folke Köbberling and Martin Kaltwasser live and work in Berlin/Germany and Los Angeles/USA.

The London Festival of Architecture 2010

The Festival will take place from 19 June to 4 July 2010, encompassing three weekends and two intervening weeks. Each weekend has a different geographic focus: Central: Nash Ramblas, East : High Street 2012 and South: Bankside Urban Forest . The Festival will incorporate complementary initiatives the International Architecture Student Festival, the International Architecture Showcase, Love Your Street and Open Studios. The London Festival of Architecture is produced collaboratively by London’s leading architectural organisations The Architecture Foundation (AF), New London Architecture (NLA) and the Royal Institute of British Architects London (RIBA) in coordination with a broad range of cultural and professional partners. The London Festival of Architecture 2010 is sponsored by Arts Council England, Land Securities and the London Development Agency.

WebPlay

WebPlay is an arts education charity that combines technology and drama to create inspirational, cross-curricular projects for schools that raise children’s aspirations, skills, creativity and cross-cultural awareness.  Since 2000, WebPlay has worked with over 25,000 children from across the UK, USA, India and China.  We run our own projects as well as create and run projects for partner theatre companies and performing arts organizations.  In September of 2010, WebPlay will launch Page to Stage, a secure online platform where theatre companies can create collaborative online projects with their school audiences.
